Counting Songs - Episode 4: Fun Music Activity for Kids and People with Special Needs: Transcription

Description: The Daniel's Music Foundation logo is shown, an arced music ledger line, with a large treble clef in the middle, surrounded by smaller music notes.

We see a man in a blue room, surrounded by a guitar, amp, and some bongos. He has straight light brown hair parted to the side, and is wearing a beige button down and a necktie.

David: Hi, my name is David and I'm an instructor, and the early childhood music program specialist at Daniel's Music Foundation.

I am so happy to be with you. During this video, we will have some fun with counting songs. And if you haven't done so already, help Daniel's Music Foundation grow by clicking on the Subscribe button below.

Now let's get to the music. All right, I think you're ready for the very next activity which is called, "Five Bears in The Bed." Now for this one, I use my hand, but you don't have to if you don't want to.

You might count with objects, you might count with other things. And I have a few motions that go with it, so when I say, roll over, roll over, I roll my arms, but you might roll your shoulders, you might roll something else, you might roll your head. Anything that feels good to you and your body. And I also I clap after I roll so I go roll over, clap, roll over, clap.

Let's try it from the top. I'm going to bring up my five little bears which are my five fingers. Here we go.

Five bears in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over," clap, "roll over."

Good, so they all rolled over and one fell out. How many bears are left? Let's count them now 1, 2, 3, 4. Four bears in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over," clap. So they all rolled over and one fell out.

Three bears in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over," good, "roll over," so they all rolled over and one fell out.

Two bears in the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over," so they all rolled over and one fell out.

One bear in the bed and that bear said, "Good night." Very good, I guess that last bear had the whole bed to itself. You did such a great job with that song.

All right, I think we are ready for our next song. Now instead of bears, we have five little frogs and these frogs have speckles, and so does the log that they sit on.

I like to use my arm as the log and my fingers as the frogs. And I guess they're speckled and the log is speckled so maybe they're camouflaged, or hidden so a predator couldn't see them.

Now for this one I like to, when they're jumping into the pool, take my fingers from behind the log, or my arm, and jump into the pool where it's nice and cool in front of my arm.

I'm going to try that splash, you try, splash, right from back to front.

All right, I think we're ready to begin.

It goes like this, five green and speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs. Yum yum!

Now when I say yum yum, I rub my tummy like I just ate something delicious. And then I say one jumped into the pool, where it was nice and cool, now there are four green speckled frogs. Glub glub!

Four green and speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs. Yum yum.

One jumps into the pool, where it was nice and cool, now there are three green speckled frogs. Glub glub!

Three green and speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs. Yum yum.

Well, one jumped into the pool, where it was nice and cool, now there are two green speckled frogs. Glub glub!

You're doing great. Two green and speckled frogs, sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs. Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool, where it was nice and cool, now there is one green speckled frog. Glub Glub!

One green and speckled frog, sat on a speckled log, eating some most delicious bugs.Yum yum!

One jumped into the pool, where it was nice and cool, now there are no green speckled frogs. Glub glub!

I guess they're all enjoying a good dip in the pool. Nice work so you should be so proud of your good work.

All right, I think you are ready for the next activity today and it involves ducks.

And I'm going to need your help and that in the form of quacking like a duck.

Maybe you could go quack, quack, quack, quack, or what feels good to you in your body, or flap your wings, your duck wings, to help us out while we sing the song and count down from five.

Let's give it a go. I'm going to use my guitar for this one and get it ready just like this, so when we're playing, we're also singing and acting like ducks together.

Description: David picks up the guitar sitting next to him, and puts the strap over his shoulder.

David: All right, let's give it a try, it goes like this.

Five little ducks went out one day, over the hills and far away. Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack," good, but only four little ducks came back.

Four little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away. Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack," but only three little ducks came back.

I like your flapping and your quacking.

Here we go, three little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away. Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack," but only two little ducks came back.

Two little ducks went out one day, over the hill and far away. Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack,"

but only one little duck came back. One little duck went out one day, over the hill and far away. Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack," but none of those little ducks came back.

We started with five. There are no ducks back. I think that's making Mother duck feel awful sad.

You can help me sing it sad if you would like.

Sad Mother duck went out one day, over the hill and far away.

When Mother duck said, "Quack, quack, quack, quack, well all of her five little ducks came back.

Nice work, nice flapping, and quacking, and counting, you sounded wonderful.

Well I have to say, I just have to say, thank you so much for making music with me, and remember to stay in the know and to help us grow.
